Plastic gas tank expansion checks?

I just read in the new Sport Rider about a Tuono with a ethanol induced tank problem. I have a 2005 BMW with a plastic gas tank molded in under the seat. I'm wondering if the tank expanding is a structural, or cosmetic problem. It would be very difficult to inspect this tank for damage, should I be concerned?

From what we gather from the BMW forums, there is a problem with fuel tank cracking on the F650 and F800 series, but the BMW F series fuel tank has an inner liner inside the plastic outer section that makes it more of a cosmetic problem.

Thanks for the information. Here in the midwest, we have "recreational use" gas readily available (100% gas-no Ethanol), so I'll stick to that from now on.
