Chrome Cleaning

Sigh.  So I messed up bad.  I installed new full chrome exhaust on the bike, I wiped down the exhaust but I missed a couple spots on the headers.  So when I fired up the bike it burned a few smudges and fingerprints on there.  I am thinking of just using a real fine steel wool and chrome polish but I know these are pretty much impossible to get out.  Anyone have a secret home remedy?

Update:  Success!  Used fine steel wool and chrome cleaner and they came off after a few hours of elbow grease.  Like they were never there.
