I find it strange that there's been no comment, opinion or attack on this buyout possibility.

As stated before I am no fan of big jug two cylinders no matter whose name is on the tank
but this news seems to be the best and biggest news in recent Duc history~since the 916 in my
humbled arsed opinion anyway. I have to admit to wanting one of those beauties along w/ everyone
else on the planet but I couldn't fold myself up that small.

Anyway, seems to be the best way out for Ducati. You didn't imagine they've been well for years past,
did you? You didn't imagine Italianos still hand making your special breed whilst sipping cappuccino,
did you?

Audi is strong and I hope they make a deal~seems like forward motion to me.

I wonder what plans Audi would have for Ducati. BMW sells cars and bikes under the same badges (while some BMW cycles used Aprilia frames,Rotax motors). When Audi slaps some logos on the tanks of Ducatis, and sells them at VW-Audi dealers,it will be great for everyone involved. At least the dealership may still be there when you go back to buy parts, a few months later.

Good point about the supply chain. I think there is also a desire to compete with BMW in the EU
on everything from scooters to tourers. Speculation at this point of course, but I read everything
I can about bikes.

While a nice idea, it's doubtful that Audi will sell motorcycles in an automobile dealership, for numerous reasons. And they won't replace the brand name with their own, as the Ducati name and logo is what that brand was built upon.

BMW sells bikes and cars under the same logo because the company started out as a motorcycle manufacturer (well, actually an airplane engine manufacturer, but motorcycles were their first consumer product), then branched out into automobiles and built that brand under the same name/logo.
