Has anyone installed a STM floating rotor conversion pin kit? It looks pretty easy, just drill or grind off the stock rivets, reassemble with new pins. Any tips?

It might be easier to grind off the rivets rather than drill them out, as sometimes the rivet will spin when you're trying to drill them out.

I received the 4mm STM floating pins today. Each one has STM, a number, and "race use only" emblazened on their face. I know race exhausts are loud, fuel enricheners may or may not be EPA compliant, other race only parts may have illegality issues. I'm guessing STM won't bother getting DOT approval, so it's better for them to mark the parts, letting the end user choose to use the product on their street bike. The parts look very well made, from a reputable company, so I will put them on my bike. I am wondering about a safe inspection/replacement interval, possibly yearly, or at tire changes?

It wouldn't hurt to inspect them at each tire change. It also wouldn't hurt to ensure that whoever is installing the tire to be very careful with the rotors if they are using a manual tire mounting machine. Full floating pins allow the rotor to move considerably more than stock, which also makes it easier to bend things.
