Hey everyone,
I have an R1 and I want to continue to drive the way i do but i would like to eliminate some of the chance of getting a speeding ticket. I was wondering what options are out there for bikes with regards to radar detectors and jammers and how well they work also if anyone knows a good website where i can find some. Thanks for the help

Whatever unit you might like, first make sure it can connect to an in helmet audible or visible alert method.

The typical detector's message screen cannot be mounted in your line of sight; neither can its audible tone be heard, so neither is ikely to be noticed when you're hustling that R1 down the road.

Hey, just wondering if you know of any good brand names of these types of detectors. I live in Canada so these aren't exactly legal but from what i understand the Beltronics STi Magnum is undetectable which would be a great feature, but i don't know if you can plug an ear piece in or have another display put in your helmet for that model

Google is your friend...

Three models of non-detectable radar detectors

All of them come with an earphone jack, you just have to purchase a setup that will transmit to your earpiece or activate some sort of heads-up display light in your helmet.

yeah I've heard of these types of detector's but I've seen others that are water proof and smaller in size, but there not stealth. Also do these types need to be mounted in the open or will they still work if their kind of hidden away???

None of the others are completely RDD proof, as these three are. The "waterproof/smaller in size" detectors will have inferior radar detection capabilities. You need to have the antenna of the detector (in the front of the casing) pointing toward the front with a clear view, but that doesn't mean it has to be mounted out in the open.

Some units allow the use of remote sensors that can be mounted up front somewhere, maybe under the front cowling, that are then wired back to the detector unit/brain, which in turn can be located inside a tank bag, maybe with a wireless link to a helmet light or speaker.

Excellent point, but those aforementioned three are the only ones I know of that are 100% undetectable by the Spectre Mk IV RDD, and they don't list remote radar antenna options. Very few radar detectors are invisible to the Spectre Mk IV RDD, which is surely what the Canadian police would be using if they were so equipped.

So what i'm basically getting from this is that i have 2 options 1 getting a radar detector that is undetectable by the police or 2 having a radar detector that is more user friendly for on motorcycle. Also does anyone know what the fine is if your caught with a radar detector in Canada???

In looking at the installation manual for that expensive Passport model, link above, I see that it has remote mounted "behind the grill" radar pickups as well as front and rear facing "laser deflectors."   I also has discrete mount alarms, both visual and audible.

Both alarms, since they are at the end of wires from the brain, likely could be spliced and adapted to a helmet.  Same would seem possible for the radar and laser sensors, front and rear.

Argh ...thanx for noting that, I just glanced at the price of that one and didn't really look at the specs. $1600 is an awful lot to pay for a radar detector...
