I currently have Battlax BT016 (160/60 and 120/60) on my bike. Can anyone comment on these tires compared to the Michelin Power Pure? Lighter tires should be better for lots of reasons, and the 2 lbs per pair would seem to be significant, but I like the characteristics of the BT016. Street-only, no passenger, coulee roads (thats what we have instead of canyons in the Midwest) .

Both are good, if they were equally priced, I'd take the Pures over the 016s.

If he rides only on the street, I'd lean toward sticking with the BT-016s. The Michelin Power Pures are intended as more of a track-day tire that can be used on the street.

Yes, more mileage at same price would be a better deal.

Got to admit that I tried some BT16s last year.  I put them on the old '86 GSXR but I was experimenting with 17" wheels and I didn't care for them at all.  I blamed it in part on the BT16s flat profile but then that's not really fair since the bike was engineered for narrower and taller 18" wheels.  I put the 18" wheels back on, some kind of built for 18" wheeled BMW Michelin DCTs; their good street tires but turned to grease in three laps at SOW.

I wore out a set of Pures on the Honda, street and track, magical tires.

I have a set of the Power Pures on my CBR600RR. Most of my riding is street (highways and twisties), a little track time. The traction is awesome, both dry and wet. They are wearing better than any other street tire I've used (42 years of riding). I would take the grip over the 2 lbs. any day.

Actually, it's the Power Pures that are the lighter tire, so you're having your cake and eating it too...

I got tired of paying so much, so about 6 months ago I decided to try some Shinko 003 Stealths, about $220 a set to my door.

Another reason I bought them is that they look like the Michelin Power Pures, sorta - here's a link

Didn't really get out to ride them seriously until this last weekend.

Verdict - when they let go, they let go suddenly; don't like that, but they are quite competent up to that point.  Good tires.  I can go fast on them, I'd just like to have a little more warning.

You get what you pay for; they're a value, a lot of tire for the money; more tire than many, if not most, street sport bike riders will ever need.

Will I buy them again?  Let's wait and see, I'll play with pressures, get more acquainted with them, and when they're worn out, I'll post again.
