I'm 52 years old and have been riding and racing dirtbikes since I was 7 years old, motocross, hare scrambles, woods races and desert races. I've owned a Yamaha VStar for the last 3 years and have put close to 7000 miles on it in that time. No drops, no close calls, nothing even remotely scary has ever happened. I ride with acute awareness of my suroundings and my years of offroad riding in all kinds of different traction has given me excellent throttle control.
I have the opportunity to purchase an immaculate 2000 CBR1100XX Super Blackbird at a fantastic price. It looks like it just came off the showroom floor. I have read that even though the Blackbird can be ridden at rediculous and dangerous speeds that it can be ridden and controlled equally well at "cruiser" speeds.
I don't consider myself a "new" rider but this would be my first "sport" bike.
Thoughts?
