I have a 2010 Z1000 kawasaki.Although the bike has good brakes,I would like to have more and faster stopping power.I hear that braided lines have more to do with feel than actual stopping power and my brakes have good feel to me with oem lines. Please advise if different pads by themselves will do the trick. I like very spirited back roads riding and maybe a track day or two. Please reply based on first hand experience. Thanks

I just added steel braided lines to my bike last week. Just doing the brake lines alone will help somewhat in stopping power and sensitivity, but to get the real benefit of braided lines you will need to upgrade your master cylinder too. If you do a full upgrade with a new the master cylinder be careful on your first ride, the brakes will be very sensitive and very powerful. Upgrading your brake lines from the OEM rubber lines is also a good idea because those lines wear out in a few years and lose much of their strength. I don't know much about the benefit of upgraded brake pads, so perhaps someone else can chime in on that.

Since the manufacturers are vague about exactly what they sell, brake pads largely are voodo to me. I've had to experiment until I find ones that work better. Beware of pads that are too aggresive, in terms of tearing up your discs. If that happens, change those out and try another brand. You should be able to find pads that work better and do it without ruining the discs.
All that said, the stock pads on most modern sport bikes are pretty darn good. The days of mandatory change to an aftermarket pad are in the past.
