I saw some article, complete with a pic, about a newly designed R6 for 2012. Supposedly the bike will be more like a GP bike. Is there any truth to this rumor?

Anything you've seen is probably an illustration at this point.
Yes it will be more like a GP bike. But you could point to any bike and say the same thing - they all have some technology originally used in GPs.
