When does the Sportrider 600cc shootout issue come out? I'm dying to read about how the R6's muffler and ecu changes effect it's performance.

Heh, ask and ye shall receive. Hopefully you've already checked out the dyno graph from our full test in the issue hitting the newsstands now on the homepage. Not all that good, unfortunately.

Thanks SportRider! I was psyched to get the latest issue in the mail w/the R6 test being the first article I read. Yeah Kento, kind of a bummer! I was really hoping that the 10' model was going to bring the bike's engine back to life in it's stock form. However, you guys did answer one of my main questions when you mentioned that a pipe and fuel-management would help things out. I still have some other questions though... First, is that the article mentions that the 08' R6 had the highest H.P. at roughly 108, but didn't the 06' model(Yamaha) have 112? I thought I read that on this website in the dyno charts section? Also, I was planning on trading in my 06' R6 for the 2010 model, but now I'm thinking twice. I am addicted to the top-end power and handling of my bike, but am tempted by the zx-6r after all the raving from last year. How would my 06' R6 (stock w/4500 miles) compare to the 09' zx-6r or 2010 R6?

You are correct, the '06 model R6 had the highest recorded hp on our dyno at 112. However, if you look at the comparison dyno chart where the '06 R6 graph is listed in our website, you'll notice that the Yamaha is woefully lacking everywhere but absolute top-end compared to the other 600s. This is where the other 600s have a major advantage in everything but straight line speed, especially now. As far as the '10 model R6, you might gain some midrange speed with it over the '06 model, but that's about it. The ZX-6R, however, has a much stronger powerplant overall, even if its stock peak number isn't as high.
