While I was very much anticipating the series with the new 600cc format, I found the end product to be a viewer's let down.
Take MotoGP and WSB, ethereally they are very different products. And their strong markets speak to this (IMO anyway).
The new Moto2 format "to watch" seems nearly identical to WSB, and absolutely identical to WSS and BSS. And according to marketed information, WSS machines are in a higher state of tune!
Sadly, moto2 feels like a long boring deja vu, and I'd rather watch the WSS "original", where the machines are the same ones you and I could build in our own garage (with deep pockets of course).
Sorry to be a downer in this one, I just came away very disappointed.

To some degree I think you're right as I'm a big fan of WSB and WSS which are much more interesting because they're multiple manufacturers competing against each other. As this is the point I feel that is missing with MOTO2 if they allowed multiple manufacturers compete it would have been more interesting. But if they did then they'd probably violate a competition clause with FIM. But on the positive side at one point I counted at least 7 riders in the front group.

From a "viewer's" POV, I thought the racing was fantastic. From a "race fan's" POV, I could see where the lack of manufacturer involvement due to the spec engine rule could result in some disappointment. Whenever the racing classes become homogenized, it's the rider that becomes the entire focal point, and the machinery is but a sidenote.
The WSS engines are in a higher state of tune obviously because they are not bound by the spec engine rule. And yet-- taking into account the different race start times (WSS was in the day, Moto2 at night)-- it should be noted that the still very young Moto2 machines with "slower" spec engines had fastest lap times during the race that were only .04 slower than the quickest times during the '09 WSS race. Qualifying was very close as well; '09 WSS pole time was 2:01.586, Moto2 pole was 2:01.984.
