The Hondas use an H7 halogen bulb.
Just FYI: retrofitting an HID bulb into a headlight housing made for a halogen bulb is a bad idea. You may think the headlights are "brighter", but in reality all you'll be getting is a screwed up beam pattern. And your ability to see objects in the distance will be compromised.
You can't just stick an HID bulb into a halogen housing, because the "photometrics" (the light intensity and color at various sections of the light source) are completely different. The reflector assembly (the part that creates the beam pattern in front of you from the headlight bulb) made for a halogen bulb is all wrong for an HID unit.
HIDs light up the foreground directly in front of you very well because of the light's color intensity. The problem is that your pupils will contract because of the higher intensity light...making it more difficult for you to see objects outside of the HID's beam pattern.

ok thanks, so with that in mind would a light bulb by the name of a PIAA bulb be a good idea? i have one on my other bike and it seems to work well however there is a 13 year difference in models.

Sure, this PIAA bulb might be a good one to try. And it's much less than the hundreds of dollars you'll spend on a poorly made HID retrofit kit.

thanks man appreciate it, what you said about the HIDs affecting your eyes in the dark makes sense. I will go with the PIAA
