I am just wondering if anyone that has experience with these oddball tire sizes can recommend a good one for all around street use. I've heard that the Dunlops are crap in the wet, but don't know about what other options are still available.  I am a new rider, so i want some tires that are sticky enough to make up for all of my mistakes and allow me that extra available traction for when I do stupid things in turns etc. but would like them to last too cuz I'm also frugal.

We'd take a look at the Dunlop GT501 tires for your Kawasaki Ninja 750. They're one of the few tire manufacturers who still make good bias ply tires to fit your "oddball" (back in the 80s, 16-inch rims were all the rage) rim sizes.

I run the shinko 003's on my bikes and i love them they are really sticky. But they don't last but maybe one season. And I'm pretty hard on them. And they do make a set with a harder compound. Personally i like the soft ones.

Shinko? are they good in the wet?  Any personal experience with the dunlops, cuz I've heard they suck in the rain. Don't know which models they were referring to though.

Just checked and the Dunlop GT501 doesn't come in 140/70 18. which is what is called for on the rear.

Whoops, sorry, thought that the Ninja 750 came with 16-inch rims front and rear.

Try the Avon RoadRiders. They are sticky tires for those rim sizes that should also work well in the wet. Or the Metzeler Lasertecs or ME 77 Perfects.
