I bought a 86 Ninja 600R a week or so back.  The guy said it had low compression in cylinder #2 and needed rings.  I am going to compression check it my self to determine if that is right.  Then I will tear it down to check it out and see exactaly what it is.  My question is even if the rings are not totally worn out or broken, should they be changed ant way while it is torn down?  I did not know if 35,000 is alot of miles for a bike with the ZX600 engine or not.  I realize it depends on how it was treated.  I was just asking if normally that was a lot for that bike?

That's a pretty good amount of mileage, but considering the bike's age, it's nothing out of the ordinary.

If you've got the top end off, you might as well freshen it up with new rings and a hone job on the cylinders.
