Used w/600 miles. Shifting feels clunky. I,m newer to sport type bikes(harley 883 previously) is this normal? bike appears in every way to be pristine and I,m following new, as far as milage, break in parameters.

Describe in more detail what you mean by "clunky shifting".
Also, you shouldn't have to worry about engine break-in at 600 miles. You can treat the engine normally (in fact, you might want to open it up full throttle a few times-- in safe conditions, obviously).

thanks for the response, the manual has 600 and 1000 mile limits on rpm. but by clunky i guess since i'm new to sport/non vtwins i assumed that upshifts would feel smoother. i wish i could descibe clunky better but maybe letting a seasoned sport rider or yamaha tech ride it may give me a better idea. once again thanks for the response and i'll keep you posted.

The manufacturer break-in procedures are extremely conservative. By 600 miles everything inside the engine should be well acquainted with each other. You should probably change the oil and filter if you haven't already, but otherwise you should be good to go.
