Looking at 3 bikes for commuting/touring Ninja 650r, FZ6, and FZ6R. Any suggestions on which one would be the better bike and why. Haver been riding a Ninja 250 for 5 years love the bike for commuting/fun but would not want to take a long trip on it.

I would go with the either the Ninja 650R or Yamaha FZ6R, although leaning more towards the Yamaha. Better fairing (wind protection), adjustable seat/handlebars, smoother and (probably) stronger engine than Ninja 650R, although the 650R will definitely get better fuel mileage, and it might be easier to handle if you're inseam-challenged.

Is this your first bike?

I am in the same boat you are, but I want to buy used and am looking at the Ninja 650R, FZ6 and Street Triple. Looking at 2008's they are all about $1,000 of each other.  Not an easy decision in my eyes...
