With all the buzz around the new fully electric Brammo Enertia,  a new category of two wheeled transport is upon us: The Powercycle.  How do people feel about this new bike/category?

At this point, fully electric-powered motorcycles are limited to very basic commuter vehicles because of the limited reserve capacity of current battery technology. In other words, attempting to exploit the vast and instantaneous torque of an electric motor for any serious acceleration or load-carrying capacity will quickly use up the battery power and considerably limits their "usable range". Adding more energy capacity means adding more batteries, adding more weight and bulk.

My daily commute to work does not consist of a maximum of 25mph, and it is almost 40 miles round-trip. While the Brammo's green-intention is admirable, my needs cannot justify spending $12K for a very basic commuter machine with limited range and no load-carrying capacity, especially in this current economy.
