It is time to change the front sprocket on my Kawasaki as it is starting to show some wear. I have my local dealer order in two 15 tooth sprocket and they don't fit. The splines are too small.
This is a Canadian bike, manufacture date 11/08
There were some recalls in 98 but this is a 99.
Have you come across this before?
Do you have any suggestions?

Any help would be appreciated.

What model Kawasaki is it exactly? You say it was manufactured in Nov '08, but you refer to recalls in '98, and then say "this is a '99"?

The model is ZX900C it has a 530 chain on it. It is 1999 confirmed by the dealer via serial number.
I am the second owner of this bike and was able to call the dealer it was purchased new from. The dealer indicated that the final drive shaft was replaced but could not tell what the replacement size was or what would fit it from their records. They suggested a newer sprocket to fit an 2002 but this seems unlikely because they went to a 520 chain that year.

For clarification I had my terminology backwards. The splines on the final drive are larger than the OEM sprockets that have arrived for my machine. Therefore the original sprocket slides back on and  the new ones have recessed teeth that are not deep enough to fit the splines.

The rear sprocket has 41 teeth.

There were no TSBs or recalls that can be found on NHTSA site regarding the countershaft, only the clutch.

You might ask the dealer to let you look at other model year countershaft sprockets to see if you can find a match. Or perhaps see if a part number can be interchanged with your model. It seems strange that they would install a non-stock part; even if there was a TSB or recall on the part, unless there was a major structural defect, the countershaft (final drive shaft) would still be the same design so that the other stock parts (i.e., the stock countershaft sprocket for that model year) would fit.
