it may just be me but i swear the recommended tire tread looks backwards on some tires.... and seems unsafe on wet roads

but besides this set i used to have michelin pilot powers that were the same way... the reason i've brought this up is because of my experience as a tire tech with chris myers and walmart TLE here in alabama. if u look at the tread pattern on these tires it looks as if they actually push water towards the center of the tire therefore hydrosliding and/or loss of control.... but if there's something behind the pattern please let me know....

I've got a set of metzlers that look that way also but I have ridden in all kinds of conditions , including heavy rain and they seem to stick good. I find this type of tread noisy compared to BTO 14s or 20s but I probably wouldn't notice that if I had after market exhaust.

The reason for the different tread patterns is because a motorcycle's front tire undergoes completely different stresses than the rear tire, unlike an automobile tire tread that is unidirectional with a flat profile, and thus doesn't have to be designed differently.

Not really sure how you think that a tread pattern can "push water towards the center of the tire"; water will always look for an escape path no matter which direction the tread sipes are. Needless to say, the tire manufacturer engineers would not design a tire that would cause hydroplaning. All tires undergo rigorous testing in wet conditions (Michelins included, which I've ridden on in the wet with no ill effects).

what i meant by it would push water to the center is because... lets say the tire has a v-pattern sipe with tip of the v in the center or the tire. the tip hits the surface of the road first an the water would travel towards the outside of the tire as it rolled forward... i'm just sayin if the pattern is the opposite direction... u kinda get what i'm sayin? i know cars an bikes are way different but i figured the tires would work on the same concept...

p.s. i liked the michelin pilot powers, they are awesome tires, just tryin out different tires to see which ones i like the most, an when i got my pirellis thats when i thought the tread pattern was odd....

Just because the v-pattern is in the opposite direction does not mean that water will flow in the opposite direction. As stated before, water will always look for an escape route, so it doesn't matter what direction the tread sipe is with regards to what direction water flow will take. What does matter is how many tread sipes there are.
