Prepairing to do some racing this coming season and wanted to know if anyone out there has any chassis and horsepower advice.
My plan first is to handle the chassis issue.  The old cbr is a twitchy thing. I already have a rear shock(Ohlins and Fox Twin Clicker) but I have to get the front done.  Here is my first delema.  I have heard that a 929/954 front ends bolt right on.  Also, people that have raced the cbr before said its a must to get triple clamps that will give you 5mm less triple clamp offset.

Whew!! just thinking about cash cash cash

next is the engine but anyway I can't afford this but does anybody have any experience with modifiying the cbr with ram air??

Not sure about the 929/954 forks "bolting right on", but you will definitely have to deal with the triple clamp offset, as the bike needs more trail to gain some stability in the turns. Are these modifications legal in the vintage racing classes?

The problem with updating the CBR to ram-air is that you will have to find a way to equalize the pressure in the carb floats to that of the airbox, otherwise fuel will not flow up into the jets. This means either building a custom airbox that completely encapsulates the carbs, or routing air pressure hoses from the airbox to each of the carb floats.

I am going to give Wera a call and ask them about the fork conversion(install a 929/954 on a 93 bike).  However I guess I have to eat more P&J sandwiches to save up for some adjustable triple clamps.
As for the AirBox thank for your info.  There was a company that used to make custom airboxes for the 900rr but at $500 I know some smart people (I'm not that smartlol) and with the info you gave me hopefully
I could modify one of my airboxes.

I'm interested to here from you, if you were going to race an old twitchy bike like this. Bike could defenitly use a lot more  power (30hp wish).  I have a worked Engine that was apparently built buy Dan Kyle and what power that thang had gobs of Torque that melted away into a nice topend rush but not like a 98 gixer.  This engine is down for the count, spun a bearing between connecting rod a crankshaft.  Man I need help and Cash.
Thanks a Bunch
God's speed with Andrew's recovery.
it should be against the law to do uturns because people donot have courtesy now and days.  I kind of blame DMV a bit because we have people from all over the world driving and they donot teach the dynamic of driving and the other veihicles on the road.

There is a lot of complexity involved with designing and fabricating an airbox that will completely encapsulate the bank of carbs. Remember that it will have to fit down between the carb spigots and the carbs themselves, and it needs to be airtight. Not an easy job that can be done by a shadetree engineer.

If you're going to be racing in the vintage classes, there's no reason why you'd need 30 more horsepower. Get the triple clamps, suspension, and engine fixed, get your riding skills in order, and you should be good to go.

by the way with the triple clamps I have heard that people say that the 900 needs 5mm less offset.  Which to my understanding if I am sitting on the bike the forks themselves will be 5mm closer to me. This will increase trail, rake will stay the same.  what is your input?

That is correct. "Fork offset" refers to the distance from the steering stem axis to the plane of both fork tube centerlines.
