hello I'm kinda newbie on sport bikes i rode cruisers in Italy for years. Which of these would you suggest:
Ninja ZX6R Buell XB9SX SV650 I like what I am reading on performance but the look is somewhat awkward Duke Monster 696 CBR600RR Suzuki GSXR 600
I am 6'2 and weight 175-180
Thanks! S

The SV650 would be my first recommendation. Then perhaps the Buell. If money isn't tight, then the Ducati Monster 696 would be a good bike to learn on as well.
I'd wait on the cutting edge 600 sportbikes until you get more experience.

so all of them well good to know better be advised! the use I would put the bike to is mainly work commuting (20 mi each way) Is there any mayor issue that, in your opinion, would refrain me from getting a buell? thanks! S

I was looking into Buells a bit more indepth: any major difference between the Xb9sx and the XB12? is the extra power manageable by somebody with 3 years of riding experience but a new to sportbikes? between the XB12 series I'm more attracted toward a low profile XB12scg but I'm 6' and weight 170, maybe it ends up being too small for me. My main concern is having something nice to ride but also safety (I love my life!) and performance in traffic thanks S

Think about riding position on your commute. Getting a bike with more semi-upright position might feel better. The Kaw 650 (2009 only) is a really nice, reengineered bike and very cost effective.

Not really sure why you'd be interested in the XB12scg, as it's basically a lowered XB12S. The ergonomics are basically the same, so it will be more like "too low" than "too small" for a person of your height.
The XB12 may have 20-odd more hp and slightly more torque than the XB9 series, but the power is lazier than other bikes, so it's not enough to be unmanageable for a person of your riding experience.

I've not been riding for long and I went for the SV650S as my first big bike, I think it looks good, sounds good being a twin and cheap insurance, its acceration isn't bad either.
Its also got the sport bike riding position to get you ready for something bigger later on, I don't think its awkward to ride at all.

If you're going to look at a SV650, then you should consider a Hyosung / United motors 650. I've had mine for a while now, it's a problem free daily rider. The bike has plenty of power, but not enough to scare you away from your first street bike. Plus, UM has the best warranty around - 18 months fender to fender and 3 years powertrain.
