Rode bike for most of the day without problem. Got onto it tonight and engine would not start. 1) Checked spark... OK. 2) Engine would fire by pooring fuel directly down throats. 3) Over time battery became weak, however even when attempting jumper leads, bike would not start.
Any ideas please!!!

Change the battery 1st, this could be the problem. If this will not work. Have the shop check your ECU and get an error code, this should tell you what the issue is. If they cannot get a code from the ECU, have them try and start your bike with a "known" good ECU. If the bike starts then put back your ECU, and change your chip, if the bike starts, your chip has burned out if not the ecu unit is dead replace it chip and all. This just happened to me and I am waiting on a new UltiMap chip. I am currently running a loaner chip from the shop till I can get a new version of the UltiMap that will work with my motor modifications.

It takes a lot of electrical power to run the EFI (mostly to power the fuel pump), so it sounds like you've got a weak battery. Try replacing it with a new one as your first step.

What 996 are you talking about? I've heard the Honda Superhawk (a 996cc V-twin) has a pretty consistent regulator/rectifier bug that could cause what you are talking about; that and apparently the stock CCT's are for *** (diff problem, but catastrophic if it happens to you).
