can someone please answer my question. my brother has a 2007 cbr 600 and he decided to cut the muffler off so it was louder, really sounds like crap expecially when maintaining a certain speed but anyhow is this bad for the bike? always thought it wasn't good for the back pressure or something. and what is the cheapest way to fix if it is bad.

If he indeed cut the muffler off completely, the exhaust heat will be running directly against the heat shielding on the underside of the tailpiece area. With extended high-rpm running, there's a good chance it will burn through the shielding and damage other parts behind the shielding after time.

The only two cheap ways to fix are welding the stock muffler back on, or finding a replacement from a wrecking yard.
