The bike is excellent, but before you ever ride away from the dealer, have him put some new tires like the Pirelli Sport Demon, or the newest bias tire from Michelin. The stock tires will get you killed.

I'm on my 2nd 250 (67 k on a 2000). I have muzzy 2 into 1, KN filter and 16 tooth front sproket. I get over 80 MPG and the bike is quick. Just got back from the Dragon and the bike is good in the turns. I think the 08 250 is great for a new rider but I really like my net 06.

I'm sure you're getting plenty of good advice, but don't forget the limitations of tire types that fit this bike. No radial is recommended for this size, and those that say you can put larger sizes really aren't reflecting either the tire company or Kawasaki recommendations. Now there are good bias tires made by Pirelli and Michelin, but not radials.
