Not seen the redesign but they are a great starter bike. Nice and light, easy to turn, good brakes, great for a first bike to learn the ropes on. Also hold their resale value.

i havent seen 08 ninja 250 but i had one couple years ago and even after riding 30 years it was pretty fun to ride something so lite and agile.agian excellent starter bike..side note theres no way to make it really fast so dont bother.. have fun ride safe stay in control its 100% operator..

I'd love to buy the '08 250R for my girlfriend, but she's only 5'1", 105 lbs. I understand the seat hieght on this ride is 33". Anyone know if the bike can be lowered a bit to accomodate her stature? Thanks. Luv the mag!

Yes, you buy a lowering link. The link will lower the rear end but to keep the handling neutral you need to lower the front also.

Hey ... I started on a Ninja 250 ... had for three years before stepping up ... I'm small and it was a GREAT Bike for me to start on ... I really enjoyed .. and I dropped like four times in the three years I had .. and it wore like steel ... only damage was some scrapes that I called battle wounds (lol) The mirrors folding in and nothing really broke .. good for a gurl who was determined to Learn to Ride !!! Not sure what improvement have been made to the bike .. but mine was factory and it ran 116 mph ... I managed to keep up

kawasaki.com has the seat height on the 2008 ninja 250 at 30.7 inches.

i dont know abot anyone else but i dont think its a good idea to start on a small bike, i mean it is in some cases but thrn again its not. i love the 250's but they dont have any power. great learning bike but then when you switch to a 500 or 600 and get on it and scare the *** out of yourself youll have to learn to ride all over again to learn to compensate for the power difference between the bikes. just my opinion though

and just what would you suggest? a 250 will teach the fundamentals of riding. and be safe about it. very forgiving bike if you make a mistake, it won't bite you as hard as say a new 600cc supersport. anybody can get on a bike and make it go.

how tall is she? you shouldn't need to lower it. the seat height is only 30.7 inches.

the ninja 250 isnt "fast" for a bike but still faster than most cars out there. 0-60 is faster than a WRX, 1/4 mile times as fast as a RSX type S (2007 model), the 08 is suppose to be faster too.
