V-Strom 650 good beginner bike or not

I'm a big guy 6'2" 300 to 350lbs. Would the vstrom have plenty of power to take me to the beach as well as the mountains? Thanks for any help  

The V-Strom is a great beginners bike I think, i had one for a couple of years, and even though i'm 150lb lighter than you, it didn't seem to slow it down much with a pillion. It's a fun bike to ride and will take you just about anywhere you like, the only complaints i had were the seat isn't the most comfortable for a long ride and the screen doesn't seem to work right, there are aftermarket screens available though.
