Hi every one I am new to this forum and I am unsure how it works. but I have an 07 ninja 500r I dont have a maintence  book but I was told it is faily easy doing the oit changes and changing out the spark plugs. can anyone help me.  Also I want to change out the stock pipes, not to be sporty but because some one just recently pulled out in front of me saying she didnt hear or see me.  I am a new rider going about 20 mph I hit the front brake and the bike just fell on spot.  please email me at mislead04@yahoo.com if you have any advice for me.

I won't email you, but I will post.  Go to your local Kawi dealer and get yourself a owner's manual for that ride.  Everything you need to know about maintenance should be in there.  They normally do a pretty good job explaining the tasks that you are asking about.

From the sounds of your drop, you haven't taken the MSF course because that is a drill that is practiced quite extensively.  If you haven't taken it, sign up.

Lastly, read around the forum, especially the New Rider threads as you'll find lots of good advice from veteran riders that will keep your fairings clean and your heart beating.

Best of luck.  Ride safe!

Not sure about the Kawi site but you can download PDF versions of owner's manuals from the Yamaha site, that's what i did it's saved on the hard drive and didn't cost anything.

Unless you are going to change the jetting on the carbs or remap the EFI,(I'm sure on your bike what you have?) do not change the pipes.  All you get is a slower louder sputtering bike.  If you just have to change the pipes, take it to a shop that can make the correct adjustments to keep your bike running.  All the other post are correct, you can get a owner's manual either at your local dealer or on line.  The publisher Haynes also prints a "Shop Manual" for your bike, but unless you already have some mechanical experience and know what your doing it can lead to trouble doing a repair you do not have the correct tools for.

Hi MISLEAD04. Take advantage of this site because it has everything you need to know about motorcycle riding. Have you ever taken a riding course? MSF course? Because that's definitely a MUST when it comes to riding!
