So one of my buddys just got a 2007 honda cbr600rr and he brought it over. this was my first experience with a street bike and im absolutely in love with them. In the past ive had experience with dirtbikes so its not like ive never rode a bike before. He hooked me up with one of his friends who is selling his 2007 kawasaki zx6-r with 3100 miles for only 3500$. Would this bike be worth getting? Its probably a little too quick to be starting with but i think i could handle it and be responsible. Do you guys have any advice you can give me? should i look for something else? or would this be a good deal to take advantage of? Thanks !!

First off, why is he selling an 07 zx6 for $3500? Bluebook should be twice that. make sure you check out the bike well before you purchase it. IMHO, you should start out on a smaller bike, but if you take it easy, you will probably be fine. I would be a hypocrite if I said you had to get a smaller bike. My first bike was brand new CBR600F3. If you do get this bike, or one like it, just make sure you respect it, or it will bite you. Good luck.

I recommend a smaller bike (EX250, EX500) to start with. You will learn to ride much better on a smaller bike. But, I don’t expect you to do that. In that case, many new riders (me included) bought 600, 750, and 1000 SS bikes, and have lived to tell about it. As long as you respect the ride you will be fine.
Now, realistically, I will recommend an older 600 SS bike. Something 4-5 years old which will still look good, and is still plenty fast. Plus the added benefit of cheaper insurance compared to new. And if you drop the bike, it doesn’t eat at you like dropping a new bike. My first new bike, I never dropped. It looked perfect when I sold it. Since then I have dropped every bike I have owned.
It all depends on what you want and what you like. Just do me a favor, I know you have been on dirt bikes, but take an MSF course. Good luck.
