Track Days

So I purchased a brand new '07 R6 in March of '08 and I received a voucher from NESBA yesterday in the mail.  Since I bought a new motorcycle from Yamaha and Yamaha is the official motorcycle of NESBA, I received this voucher for one free day at the track.

I've been thinking about doing a track day in the past couple months because it looks like a blast.  I just wanted to ask a couple questions.  Who of you has done a track day(s)?  Is there any advice that you have?  Keep in mind that I've been riding for 4 months and have about 2200 miles on my bike.  Do you think it's too early in my riding career (so to speak) to take my bike to the track?  All this is new to me so I'd appreciate any input.  Track days look, and from what I've heard, are a blast.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, track days are a blast. I have done several over the past two years, but I have not been to a NESBA track day. So I can not say for sure how there format is. If you are comfortable with the controls of the bike, and higher than street speeds, then do a track day. Here is a link to the NESBA riders manual:

http://www.nesba.com/Info/downloads/manual.pdf

It should give you a better idea what to expect. I know you will need protective gear: 1 or 2 piece leather suit, gauntlet style gloves, boots that cover over the ankles. I think NESBA may offer rentals to you. Check out the manual or website for more info.

Also, and most importantly, track days are like a drug. You get addicted to them. You will find ways to justify spending money on all kinds of thing for your bike.   Hopefully, this is a welcome to the most fun addiction you will ever have.

i've been to 3 nesba track days and will be going to my 4th and 5th in august. they are great. doesn't matter how new you are, the sooner you get out there the better.

advice? be yourself. ride to your abilities. learn from the control riders.

check out the nesba website (www.nesba.com) and sign up for your free track day. you'll wish you did it sooner...

Thanks for the input guys.  Looks like I'll do a little research and hit the track!
