jack up kit

Hi,
I recently bought a 600 Bandit which has a jack up kit fitted and the centrestand removed. The seller gave me the centrestand and the original linkage rods cos I said I might want to put the stand back on but he said to do this I would need to take the kit off and put the original rods back on as well. Is this right? If so whats the easiest way of doing it, bearing in mind I cant put it on the centrestand to change the rods!
