New BT 021's on 03' FZ1, running recommended psi 36 front, 39 rear. Both show flat center tread wear. Do I raise or lower pressure to get more even tread wear and longer life. What is expected mileage?

Your riding dictates how your tires wear.  It is not recommended to lower pressure, as the tires were engineered to operate at a certain pressure.  If you step out side that box, you raise your level of risk immensely.  I would guess and say you ride in a straight line alot, I suggest getting a dual compound set of tires when these wear out.  I have the Michelins and I am tickled with them.  If you ride like a granny you should get an easy 5K out of those tires you have now.
