what exactly is this? i was looking at buying an r1 in exchange for my r6 and was wondering what exacly this does to the bike and how it helps it.

and also would you recomend an r1 to anyone?

i won't get into the why this work's but the variable length intake stacks allow for better midrange power by being longer and also more peak power by being shorter, it gives you the best of both worlds so to speak. this was added to the R6 for the 08 model year to help give it some more midrange power that it has been critisiced for lacking without losing its advantage in peak power.

BTW the system is refered to as the YCC-I (yamaha chip controlled intake).
