I have been riding for about a year and currently own a 2007 Honda Shadow 750.  I use my bike as my transportation so I ride everyday and am now really wanting to get a sport bike.  As far as body styles, I really like the Honda CBR 600 and CBR1000RR.  Any suggestions on the differences between bikes whether to go with Honda/Yamaha... and what kind of bike would be good.  I want something with enough power that I wouldn't need to upgrade.  Thanks!

if you are going to use the bike as daily transportation i probably wouldnt get a sport bike at all. they arent very comfortable for commuting and basic maintanance costs are expensive (tires, oil, etc.). its kinda like driving a indy car to work, doesnt make alot of sense. your honda shadow is a much better daily driver than any sport bike. i would keep the shadow for commuting and get a sport bike for fun.

ya, I probably should have added that.  I am planning on keeping my Shadow to ride to work and would use the Sport Bike for fun on Weekends...ect.  Any input in regards to what kind of sportbike?

thats good. i think its all about personal preference with these bikes. unless you are a professional racer i doubt you will be able to tell any difference in preformance between different brands in new models, so i think its about which one you feel the most comfortable on. there is a big difference in power between classes (600 & 1000) so figure out which class you want to go for and go from there. if you have never ridden a sport bike dont go for the 1000s a 600 is going to feel so much more powerfull than your shadow and you will learn quicker. 600s these days arent any joke they are plenty to make you happy. just go to the dealer and see what you like, everyone is different so i cant tell you what you will like. good luck and have fun
