520 Conversion on litre bike???

I have a '02 gixxer and want to know if a 520 will work for long. The horsepower can not be much higher than a race tuned 600 or 750. Who has time tested miles with this set up. Thanx in advance.

I had a bad experience with a 520 conversion on a Yamaha FZ1. The aluminum rear sprocket was shot after 10k miles and almost left me stranded. And I was good about keeping the chain adjusted properly and the chain lubed. Having said that, I think as long as you stay with steel sprockets (and keep up with the maintenance), you should be fine.
