Hey there. I bought my first bike about 4 month ago. I was wondering if anybody could steer me in the right direction on buying a pair of boots. I ride my bike everyday, rain or shine. In 4 months I have already put 5000 miles on her. Dont know it I should by something race oriented, or does someone make a boot that kinda fits in between race and street. I would like to buy something that I could use at the track as well. Or am I going to need to buy 2 pairs of boots. Thanks

Wise Choice! So many New Riders ignore the need for a good pair of Riding Boots!! Not knowing what part of the Climate you live in, I will suggest that you might need 2 pairs just for Street Riding. Vented Boots are great in the Summer, although in a serious down pour of rain your feet can get wet as your Front Wheel parts water. In this case it would be good to get a second pair that were Water Proof, and Insulated agianst the Winter cold. As for Track Boots: If you are really serious about Track Riding, get a pair that are dedicated for that, which only come out with your Leathers. That way they are not contaminated with Road Oil, or get excessive wear, and so stay Track Ready. If it is a budget issue, there are good Riding Boots that can Double for Street/Track, but make sure that there are Proper Skid Pads on the sides (Toe/Ankle). Some Boot Manufacturers mount the Side Pads with Velcro, so they can be removed if you don't want them on the Street. Make sure that your Boots Fit Snugly when you buy them, as they will stretch out a bit, and you want them to stay tight to your Foot/Ankle. It is your Landing Gear after all, so you don't want any 'slop', or 'wiggle room'. This is also important in an Accident, as you don't want to get knocked out of your Boots! Congrats on your First 5K Miles, and successful Winter Season Ride! Stay Safe!
