650R

My wife has been bugging me for a bike.  While buying mine I was broadsided by a smoking deal on a 06 650R.  I have purchased a shorter shock and seat.  Would like some opinions on frame sliders.  She has already fallen over twice. Will frame slidders prevent scratch bruise damage on the bike.  Also I have been unable to locate horsepower figures on this bike.  Neighbor says his Sportster will kill it.  After riding both I think it would be interesting.
