My rear tires are lasting about 7,000-8,000 miles. I had a 2006 GSX-R1000 that I commuted on and on the Bridgestones I got 7,000 on the rear and 14,000 on the front. That was on a strictly freeway commute. I now have a 2007 GSX-R1000 and commute over Ortega Highway (about 18 miles of canyon carving) and some freeway. The majority of the wear is in the center still but the sides are finally getting some wear. I have 7,200 miles on the factory Bridgestone rear and it is at the wear bars. The front is about 50%. I'll replace the rear with the same to keep the set but the next set of tires will be Michelin Pilot Power 2CT. I had the standard Pilot Power on my 2006 and the performance was much better than the Bridgestones. I crashed after 3,500 miles on the Michelin's but they still had pleanty left maybe 50%. Hope that helps.

A lot of it depends on how hard you ride. Even when being gentle Ive never got more than 5,000 miles on a set of tires. On my R1 I only got 4'000 and I had cord showing on the rear. I usually go with Dunlop. 207's, 208's, Qualifiers.

How bout these! I've got aprox 11,000 miles on my Pirelli Deablo's. I now need a new rear though/front still has some more miles left on it. I'm riding a Triumph Datona 600..(nice bike) The Pirelli's are quite sticky too!!

I think tire wear is directly related to throttle usage and tire compound design. I ride a 2005 ZX10R with an approximate 75% commute (84 mi roundtrip)/25% sportride ratio. I have used Metz Z6's, Mich Pilot Pwrs, Dunlop 208's (could refuse a pair for $149 on clearance!), the stock OEM Dunlop 218's, and now, Conti SportAttacks...
As expected, on all brands, with my commute bias, the centers are always the area to wear first. Also, as expected, tires with a more Sport Touring vs Sport riding bias, last longer (i.e. the Z6's). Approximate figures for mileage:Z6's=14k mi, Pilot Pwr=5k mi, OEM Dunl 218's (no longer available i hear)=4.5k mi, Dunl 208's=5k mi. Also, as mentioned above, it seems expected that you could probably get at least 1.5 or 2 front tires for each rear that gets used. Keep in mind, I don't do burnouts, and I tend to be somewhat easy on the throttle (no jack rabbit starts, etc.. most of the time... heh heh..).
I think other factors that are somewhat overlooked (IMO) when considering mileage estimates are: engine size and bike torque, rider body weight/bike weight, and also tire air pressures.
In any case, if you were to ask me my favorite tire of all that I've used over the years (which have also included Bridge B014's and B020's on a stock 2k ZX12R), I am inclined to say the Mich Pilot Pwrs. I think I could have easily gotten more than the 5k mi mentioned earlier, but alas.. a low slide caught me by surprise, and it ended up being a total write off. Prior to the accident, I was beginning to notice a definite center wear pattern, but was not noticing any obvious bad-handling during sportrides, as I had tire pressures run a little lower to avoid the dreaded 'squared off' handling woes...
In any case, I ramble... hope that helps. If you do need tires soon, I would recommend a company that got my tires shipped to me free, at an unbelievable price and received at my door in less than 48 hours (from the time I ordered via internet-no exaggeration)! I receive no compensation from this company (Ride Direct.com), but I was so ecstatic that I feel compelled to share my joy.. !

I only got 2,000 miles on my Shenko's rear. Front still has plenty but handles like crap. I got violent headshake at 160 mph because of them. I ride a 06 gsxr 1000
