i agree that the ninja 250 isn't "fast" for a bike. there are plenty of bikes faster. but seriously, how fast do yo really, really need to go? the 250 has better acceleration than the majority of the cars on the road today. of course i don't plan on racing any 'vettes or anything anytime soon. i just wanna ride and hone my skills the best i can. safely.

it's by far the best starting bike that we get in the states imo.

i finally got to see one at the local dealership on friday. i sat on it. seems comfy enough. the reach isn't bad. i'm not a tall guy. i'm between 5'5 and 5'6. i weight approx 155-160lbs. i'm new to motorcycling. i took my safety course in september 2005. learned on a rebel 250. i have not ridden since then. aside from the short trip up and down a private drive on a friends 2003 harley dyna lowrider. i think the new ninja 250 will be a great bike for me. i'm not worried about going fast etc. i just want to ride. i think that this bike can help me better my skills. i sat on the red one they had there. they had a blue one also but it was sold allready. i'm not sure on which color i like best because i haven't seen a black one or a green one in person. i like the blue more than the red. but even so, it was painful to leave the shop without that bike. we're in the middle of buying a house right now so the timing just isn't right. hopefully soon though.

I started out on a 500ex keep it for a few years to learn on, fun little bike, I out rode its speed, had hard time keeping up with the bigger bikes. I don't think I'd go with a 250. I now ride a gsxr 600, love it!!!

I just Got A new Ninja 250. It's Super Fun!  It's My First Bike, so I'm Just learning. I'm a small person so, The Bike Fits me nice. If I were an average size person the Bike Might Be A little Small.

P.S. Maxed out at 120mph.

i wanted the blue one..but had to wait next week for it...so i just took the red they had there instead of the green one.

I started learning on a suzuki gz250 a couple weeks ago n got this one on tuesday.  Pretty quick lil bike...im 5'10 165 lbs and i look fine on the bike...i fit well on it.  its pretty light and accelerates pretty good. Had it up to 100 on the freeway and it has no problem getting there....ran outta ball$ to see how much more it would go but that was fast enough.

Ive gotten nothing but complements about how good the bike looks and ppl see it parked n think its a 600

so far only complaint about it is my balls hittin tha gas tank...i dunno...it gets a lil crowded n after a bit gets uncomfortable....so at stops i gotta fix my meat hahaha....sum ppl look at me funny but...its sumthin thats gotta b done

other than that...great bike...great price....good fun...looks great...and this beginner is not scared shitless of it like he was with his friends cbr1000 hahhaa

Am I too heavy for this bike?

Richard117 - I would'nt think so.  Its a starting bike (and a good one at that) so speed isn't the focus.  Just as Justin has been stating, learning and getting the feel is what this bike is all about. Oh, and I agree it does look like the 600 in the parking lot.

Be sure and check your insurance costs before you buy....you may be surprised what kind of bill you will be facing there

I didn't think the insurance was too bad on these? One of my friends just got a 250 ninja(2006) and he said the insurance was incredibly cheap - I don't know how cheap but I am thinking around 17 bucks a month, I don't know I will ask him today-

Great looking starter bike. Might get one just cause they are a blast and twisty's are the best. Take the stickers off and put on an exhaust and nobody will be able to tell it's a 250. I've been fooled and so have a few of my buddies. I would go for it just for the fun of going all out without "accidently" looking down and your going 150+. good luck.

Just got insurance today on my 08 250r and it ran me 106 a year.    That's $8.86 a month.  Great buy.  I rolled my GZ250 into the same policy and the whole bill came out to 180 a year. (15.50 a month for BOTH bikes).

My New 250R is a hot bike and begging to run fast.  120 on the freeway, 0-85 in a matter of seconds.  They did some awesome work with this bike.

i actually just sold my 2008 250R. it may be a good bike to learn on, however it gets old fast. top speed is 107, making it an overrated moped. if you are set on a 250 get an old one, for $1000, ride the *** out of it, then upgrade to the zx-6R.

One you must be a little heavy because an average person can do between 110-120.

Two the new one is a beauty and runs fater than an old one.

Three, you are not a TRUE motorcycle rider. If you were you wouldn't have said what you said.

This motorcycle is amazing. One of the best things on a motorcycle is taking corners IMO. This bike is nimble and takes turns better than any bigger motorcycle. Take into account it cost peanuts to own and run. Maybe you can't keep up with the big boys but this bike still goes fast enough to get yourself thrown into jail. A good rider can keep a grin ear to ear on this bike no problem.

Remember its more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.
