Is it only in CA where lane splitting is "legal"?

Although it is legal, there is a fine line when you do it. Some of my buddies get pulled over for it, and some don't. It's also a case where the cop thinks I safe or not. He/she can also feel like an @$$ that day! The rule of thumb that I use, "If a cop is close enough to pull me over, I don't split lanes. When everthings all clear, I minuse well be PacMan!" Stay shiny side up.

as long as you're not being an ass, e.g. speeding, not using turn signals, etc, you're fine.

Traffic has to be traveling at 45mph or less, but I do try to lane split behind the CHP officers when they come along.
