I don't know how it's been in your guys' neck of the woods, but here in Kansas City there have been a lot of sport bike fatalites this year. I know there is only so much you can do to protect yourself while riding, but I just wanted to send a message to all you guys and gals out there. Please ride safe and smart. I hate seeing threads on the local forum about another rider that went down and got killed. Be safe you all. I don't want to hear about any of you in a fatal crash thread...

You have to remember that we are involved in a very dangerous sport. 2000lb vehicle vs a 400lb the cage will win every time. RIDE SAFE.

NOTE TO EDITORS, WRITERS, LAWYERS AND POLITICIANS:
The AMA and US Govt have told the Truth in motorcycle statistics, contrary to the insurance lobbyists, who have an agenda to separate you from your money:
http://www.smokymountainriders.com/forums/showthread.php?t=695
Study: 'Supersport' cycles step up risk (PR "news" report by secret insurance lobbyist seeks to outlaw sportbikes, one way or another) http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2007-09-10-Deadlybikes_N.htm
AMA rebuttal says the insurance lobby wants speed governors on all vehicles http://home.ama-cycle.org/newsroom/amarelease.asp?rnum=A07017
Remember that riding a motorcycle is relatively safe. For every 1 person who dies in a motorcycle crash, 1,024 die in other ways. You're 54 times more likely to die playing ordinary sports than in a motorcycle crash.
"The Centers for Disease Control says that 100,000 young athletes between the ages of 13 and 30 drop dead every year, either during exercise, during a sporting event or immediately after. Or twice that." -Dr Joel Wallach ND DVM, Nobel Prize nominee, Dead Athletes Don't Lie, author of Dead Doctors Don't Lie (46-million copies sold) http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9000052717197218681&hl=en http://firstamendmentradio.com http://www.wallachonline.com http://www.deaddoctors.com
The most dangerous part of a crash is going to the hospital:
"The most stunning statistic, however, is that the total number of deaths caused by conventional medicine is an astounding 783,936 per year. Using Leape's 1997 medical and drug error rate would add another 216,000 deaths, for a total of 999,936 deaths annually. It is now evident that the American medical system is the leading cause of death and injury in the US." —Dr Gary Null, PhD; Dr Carolyn Dean MD, ND; Dr Martin Feldman, MD; Dr Debora Rasio, MD; Dr Dorothy Smith, PhD, Life Extension Magazine, Death by Medicine, March 2004 (plus 1-Million annual aborticides in USA) http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2004/mar2004_awsi_death_01.htm
Doctors tell their families to never sign their organ donor contract on their driver licenses, since organs can only be harvested from healthy living people, with a $500,000 profit per harvest.
Even though the US Govt's Hurt Report proved that only 1 in 1,000 motorcycle crashes is due to excessive speed, with the average crash speed of 21 mph, the Police State targets sportbikes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurt_Report
"The MAINTAIN TOP SAFE SPEED sign may be used on highways where conditions are such that it is prudent to evacuate an area as quickly as possible." - US Dept of Transportation, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Section 2I.06 - DealsGapDragon.com
