I have an 06 GSX-R 600. Ive tried pullin wheelies by simply punching it in the powerband of 2nd, but the bike isnt even close to coming up. I know the bike has plenty of power and should have no problem doing this, so what am I doin wrong? I would like to learn wheelies this way cuz I dont want to destroy my clutch. Also, how do you lift the front end up at higher speeds?

You do not have to destroy your clutch... Just learn to use it! For wheelies the clutch and the rear brake are your friends.
Dont just drop the clutch... Smoothly but fast, feather the clutch out. This way you can control how fast the bike comes up.
To help the wheelie up process, sit back and try to preload the forks by pushing down on the clip-ons just before the wheelie or the easier way, tap the front brake to compress the forks, as the forks are coming back up release the chutch and the front end should come up easier.
Throttle controls the hight of the wheelie. Also when you are coming down give the bike throttle to smooth out the landing. Your fork seals will thank you.
I do them on 2nd gear, at about 40mph and try to go confortably high and ride until I run out of RPMs.
Or on 2nd gear, at about 40mph go as high as possible and shift to third gear. Careful because the taller gear requires less throttle for the same speed.
For higher speed wheelies use 2nd gear at high RPMs and shift. Can you do wheelies on 3rd gear? Yeah it is just harder to do.
The rear brake is your emergency wheelie stop. Condition your mind to use the rear breake if you have gone too high. Kicking your legs out wont help you and you are much more likely to go down.
Know that repairs on your bike if you do go down is going to be in the thousend dollar +. So, if you are OK to try to do some wheelies... Whether you have done them a lot or not... Do not be mad for falling, getting mad wont change a thing. ![]()

your bike is not going to just come up by itself chnge gears or use your clutch you mentioned higher speeds 2nd will take you to 100mph thats not fast? i do my wheelies in first from 30mph not quite full throttle pull in clutch and let out you should hear the sound(little slip then grab) i ride till about 75mph and set it down(cant quite get second on the come up) you can change the speed of rise w/clutch as another post stated. just remember if it comes up too fast get off the throttle. most beginers concentrate on the come up verses the ough *** need to get down. so gradually learn to go higher and higher. in an emergency if you can think quik enough to hit the rear brake this will bring you back down but it happens fast and hard so be ready for the nut crunch. i have an 06 cbr 600rr and cant get it to even clutch up in second w/experience but i weigh 260 so take that into consideration be careful and have fun if you reck though the bike is totaled because it will probably tumble and it dont take much. hope you have ins and gap

My '04 GSXR 600 powers up pretty easy in first gear around 20-25mph.I usually blip the trottle and as the forks compress I get on the trottle hard, maybe 60%,and it comes up!To get it to come up in 2nd I usually clutch it up 'tho.
Ride it like u stole it!

... dont shift. with experience you will find balance point and not "run out" of rpm. shifting is a bad idea. Use your clutch to get it up, the power wheelies are unpredictable, and by the time you are on your ass, you are going way too fast...

You can also try going down 1 tooth on the front sprocket.

one way is to bounce yourself up in first, bring your rpms up to around 6500to 8000 then shut the thottle and quickly reopen it and pull back on the bars. this method is good because you start with baby steps popping the front end up but to keep it up your going rev it out. second and best method clutch but you dont pull the clutch in all the way only about half way. basically what your doing is taking the load off it then going to full grab again. find a long quite road and pratice roll ons first and second gear. as your smoothing exceleration pull the glutch in a little and release see what happens your clutch is made to wear out beat the chit out it

Hey thanks ... I'm a gurl on a SV650 ... have several years riding experience.. but never tried the wheelie thing till now. Never had enough courage to even try ... anyway I found some good suggestions here and just wanted to say thanks ... so far all I've done is in first ... get to 6-7 rpm ... chop off smooth then open up ... only brought the front tire up maybe an inch or so ... I keep hitting the back brake(lol) So now I have something more to work with!!

If you are that scared to mess up the bike ( and I don't blame you one bit ), get a beater bike. Or, better yet, a dirt bike. Better to crash in the dirt! And I understand you may not have the funds for another bike; but you can get an older bike, especially a dirt bike, far cheaper than paying for new fairings. If you can’t get another bike, and have to use yours, just think baby steps. Go to an empty parking lot and try to bring the front wheel up an inch or two. It may take you serveral times to even get the wheel off the ground. To gain the confidence, it will take time. Someone had posted a good clip on how to wheelie a motorcycle from Google. I think it was 2005Ti10R. But when I find it, I’ll post it for you.
