I learned how to upshift without clutch from here, and use the technic all the time.  One question I cannot seem to get an answer from anyone is that, is clutchless DOWNSHIFTING bad for the bike?

It is not bad... As long as you match RPMs for the lower gear. This works well for picking up speed quickly.

But not as  well for slowing down... The clutch smooths the process greatly. Like a hand held sliper clutch.

Clutchless downshifting without matching RPMs may lock the rear wheel, and would likely unsettle the chassis.

Key for performance riding is being smooth...

DON'T DO IT!!!

You will eventually bend the shift fork in the tranny. Not cheap to fix. Most of the time you need to split the cases. If you watch any racing on TV you'll notice that the guys without all the fancy electronics use the clutch to downshift. Just my opinion. Your money.

Will I risk any damage to my bike by clutchless up-shifting?

It is a skill you will come by over time, done properly there is no danger of breaking the bike.
Down shifting is a bit harder and not recommended.
