i have a yzf600 that i ride in hot and sunny florida.yamaha recommends 10w30 or 20w40.i want to know if 20w50 will hurt the bike.

Check your owners manual. For my ZX-10R, the manual says that it is ok to use 20w50 if the temerature is from 32f to 104f+.
Check your manual.  But I'd guess that it is ok to use.
