Hey Gang,
I have a Carbureted bike (never buy a carbureted bike by the way)..
and I have had problems keeping the injectors clean..after 3,000 miles it was running like crap and the dealer had to go through and do a carberator service. they have suggested that I use an additive in my gas tank to help keep things clean and running good.
does anyone have suggestions on brands or anything else to help me out?

I use both the Marvel Mystery Oil and STP injector cleaner in my vehicles (1999 Camry fuel injection and 1982 Kawasaki GPZ1100 B2) with no problems.
Use a good name brand of gasoline and stay away from the discount gas stations.

Also make sure you are using the correct octane for your bike. I try to run Mid Grade or Premium. I have never had any luck with fuel injector cleaners once I notice the machine starting to run like crap. By then it's too late and you need to take apart the carbs. I try not to let the carbs run dry if the bike is going to sit for a period of time either. Keeps the floaties in the fuel floating. I don't know if Stabil works, but I use that also. I do run a bottle of cleaner thru all my vehicles about March. Gets rid of any water and I don't know if it does anything else. About the only engine I routinly have problems with is the Tecumseh in my snoblower. Every 2 years I have to take the carbs apart and clean them. Just my 2 Cents worth, probably spending more money than the maintenace is worth, but peace of mind is more important to me.
Also, why never buy a carb bike? Up until the last 6 years that's all that was available. I have never had that many problems with them(as long as you take care of them). You don't need a Tune Boy, Laptop or computer of anykind to work on carbs, only a syncronizer and some know how. I like carbs for the sheer ease of maintance. Fuelies have their place too, no choke or richener knob and they do make more power per pound with better milage. As long as the progammers have done their homework fuel injection is great. First Generation Fuelies are not great, but the new ones are far superior to carbs.
