Ok people, my wife is an agent. (don't kill me, and no my rates aren't any cheaper)I was wondering what the rates were for people out there in sportbike land. Add the bike you insure, the state it's insured in, your age, if you have any current tickets and your rate for a year. Just a curious kinda guy I am. Here's mine:

2000 Triumph Sprint RS 955i
MI
33
Clean driving record
$680/Yr.

Well the wisdom of my wife told me I should add the previous and current bikes. You already got the Triumph so here's the rest:

2001 Honda GL1800 Goldwing(yeah...I know I'm not old enough but ma' said I could)
MI
33
Clean record
Progressive/$650/Yr. Full Coverage

1999 Honda CBR 600(As of last year now a track only bike, so no insurance now.)
MI
33
Clean record
Progressive/$480/year Comp only coverage

After I started this thread I realized people out there might think my wife is behind this, no, I'm just a curious guy that read one the forum contributers tales of woe and wondered how rates compared state to state.

As a side note, in MI if you are invloved in a accident with any wild life or another vehicle of any kind, your deductible doesn't apply(on most policies) and any medical (anthing related to the accident) is covered, per state law, for the rest of your life.

Does how long you have your motorcycle licence affect insurance rates.  Im 23 don't have a bike yet.  But I called my insurance agent and he said for a 2007 Ninja 250 for liability is $300 a year and full  coverage is $800.

Does this sound very good?

Sorry to bring the thread back from the dead.

Wow, here in MI that would be a great rate for one year. Make sure you have medical insurance though, if you don't I know that in MI they will not insure you or will add it to your policy. Talk about stiker shock! More than triples the yearly price here if you don't have medical coverage. Check with your agent(as my wife says) every state is different. As far as the years you've been riding affecting your rates, it matters more about your driving recore(sounds like yours is good by your price) and your age. As I get older my rates stay the same or fall just a little bit. No major accidents(auto or bike) or claims helps tremendously.

I talked to my insurance agent today.  He said the longer you have your motorcycle lincence the cheaper it gets.  Along with the age and what type of bike it is.  He says the rate is as high as it is because its a "Ninja" even though its a slow one.

It's a sportsbike so it makes it higher.

I'm 23, don't have a license or a bike yet (I'm just now taking the initial steps), but I called my agent at Progressive just to get some pricing (always a good idea to plan ahead before I jump into something), and for the 2002 Suzuki GS500 I will be buying (hopefully tomorrow), full-coverage will run about $650-$700 a year (I have a clean record, no tickets or accidents, so that helps a lot).  He said the cheapest possible coverage is like $79 a year, but all that would really do is get me an insurance card to show proof of insurance for inspections or if I get pulled over by a policeman.  If I go with the cheap coverage and get into a wreck, everything will be out-of-pocket for repairs and medical.  For the first year or two, I'm going to be sure to include medical coverage 'cause I'm sure I'll fall off the thing a couple times.
