Always pretty much thought the same thing. I think no one wants to pick on Aprilia with all the funding problems they've had lately, I don't know if they even released anything in 04 or 05. I do know a guy who traded his 04 RC51 in on an 05 or 06 (I think it's kinda the same thing with Aprilia) Tuono and he's a very happy dude.
Hey yblegal, don't I know you from Rogue??

im going to disagree... the frame is totally different as well as the fairing... the Aprilia looks much longer especially in the gas tank... handlebars are lower (look that way) and the tail is quite different... similarities, sure.. but 'posier' ? i disagree

Show me someone who constantly bags on Italian bikes and I'll show you someone who secretly wishes they had one, or two, or three.

There are some similarities. But I don't think they look that same at all.... Just my take on it...

[pointless gab]The rsv is pretty sweet but for some reason I am so drawn to RC51's, they look simply amazing to me.[ending pointless gab]

Not sure which one hit the Superbike competitive scene first. If I had to guess I'd say the Aprilia. Remember, the RC51 was Honda's answer to the butt kicking they were handed by Ducati in WSB. I'm pretty sure Edwards won his first WSB title in 2000 on the then brand new RC51. After Hayden won AMA superbike in 2002 and Edwards his second in 2002 both on the RC51 they pretty much disappeared from the factory competitive scene. Can't really recall what Honda raced in 2003, the CBR or the RC. I know Edwards moved, ironically, to Aprilia in Moto GP for 2003.
Lucky for me, they've stuck around in production for common folks and I have an 04' Nicky Hayden replica that I love. BTW, my next bike, most likely will be the Aprilia RSV 1000 R Factory (have a look at your June 2006 Sport Rider, pages 22-26). I like twins that much, and the RC, which I'll never sell, ever (wife won't let me, she absolutely loves the look of the bike as do I) is closing in on 20,000 miles these days. In another year or so I'm going to need an everyday bike (at least that's what I'm trying to convince myself of..) and it's gonna be another hot twin and right now that Aprilia Factory version is in the front of the line.

I'll say it if no one else does; "Post *** /> I have to admit that those two Honda V-Twins sounded very cool running down the back straight at Road Atlanta. They had soo much torque they would wheelie all the way up the hill after coming out of the essies. Good Times!

I don't see how you can look at the two pics and think they look alike. The only areas even remotely similar and the headlights with the center intake and the dual pipes. Other than that these bikes don't look the least bit like each other.
