Hello, I'm posting this to see what kind of feedback I get. I find that more & more people are becoming familiar with this style of streetbike customization. Just wanna see how many folks in this forum are familiar with? So, do you know what streetfighters are?

Simply a bike with no fairings really. I usually catagorize them with stunters. However that's not always true.

Yes, streetfighters are for the most part sportbikes that are naked. Bikes like the Honda cb919 is a good example. They are powerful bikes without the flash.

Not.
Streetfighters are usually bikes that are built from sportbikes that have been crashed, which is why they generally have no fairing. No fairing, high horsepower, handlebars instead of clip-ons, docked tail sections, etc. Wheelie monsters. Easy to stoppie due to the bars. Stuff like that. The 2005-2006 Triumph Speed Triple is a prime example of a factory stock out-of-the-box streetfighter.

it all started with those crashed suzuki GSXRs in Bol d'Or, they stripped the fairing and retained the bug eye headlights the streetfighter was born

A streetfighter is not some wrecked up bike. If you would do a little research and you would find that back in "02" Sport Rider did a test on "streetfighters" It was the CB919 and the FZ1, both are new not wreacked, just a little fact.

A ‘Street fighter’ is arguably a naked sport bike that has been optimized for street riding. They’re usually light, very powerful and have an upright, motocross-like, riding position that gives the rider a better view of what's going on around them and a little more reaction time on unfamiliar roads. They’re also usually geared a bit shorter than their track-going counterparts trading top-end speed for low-end punch. The idea here is to simply move the bike's power to where a street rider would find it most useful (and fun).
Generally speaking, most of these bikes are twins (or triples) because of their bias towards torque over flat-out speed, although you can find a few sf conversions done to inline-fours. Some good examples of street fighters you can ride off the showroom floor are the KTM Duke, Buell Lightning XB-12, Aprilia Tuono, Ducati Monster S4R, BMW K1200R and Triumph Speed Triple.
I've found the Triple to have the best bang for the buck of the bunch - which is why I now ride one

And? What's your point?
I never said that a bike had to be wrecked to be a streetfighter. I was just letting you know that all naked bikes are not streetfighters.
If you want to know what a streetfighter is/ looks like/ comes from, then maybe you should get your info from Streetfighter magazine, instead of Sportrider magazine.
Why is a CB919 a good example?? Because that is what YOU ride? If someone asked you which bike was yours in the parking lot, and you said " The streetfighter over there..." They would reply... "Oh, that Speed Triple? That's a nice bike..." And you would have to say..." UH, no. That CB919." Then they would say..."Oh. I thought you said the streetfighter....." "Uh...yeah."
Anyone heard of Wikipedia??? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_Fighter_(motorcycle)

Hey Casey, I value what you are saying. I kind of agree with you that the 919 is not really a streetfighter and most owners agree its more of a naked/classic looking bike. People just have a lot of ways of defining the word.
That conversation that you posted really made me laugh though because I had an experience similar to that except it was reversed.
I met this guy at a party who was stunter (he had a trashed gixxer 600 stunt bike but it retaned most of it's faring via zip ties) anyways we got to talking about bikes and he asked what I rode, I told him Honda 919 and he was puzzled (as are most), I started to describe it...naked etc. and he was like "oh the streetfighter, yeah I have seen you riding around." (not kidding those were his exact words) It was just funny as my bike has not been called that too much.
I actually get people who are like "oh thats you riding the Buell" and I'm like, "no it's a Honda" (their excitement fades).

Yeah I know. I was just screwing with you.
Trying to get something started. The board has been kind of dead lately. YOU CAUGHT ME!!
If someone tells me my SIII is a standard, I tell them it's a sportbike. If they tell me it's a streetfighter, I tell them it's a naked bike. If they tell me it's a sportbike, I tell them it's a standard (like I told Geico). If they tell me it's a naked bike, I tell them it's a streetfighter. If they tell me it's a naked streetfighter, I tell them it is a standard sportbike race replica without the fairing.
Confusion reigns supreme. And nobody is ever really right or wrong. Damnable creature, the Speed Triple. I need a turbo.
AND SOME COFFEE!!

OKAY, YOU ARE CORRECT AND I WAS ONLY USING THE 919 AS AN EXAMPLE NOT JUST BECAUSE IT IS ONE OF MY BIKES THAT I RIDE.
