Microsoft to supply ECU's to F1

According to Speed, Microsoft will become the sole supplier of ECU's to all F1 racing teams beginning in 2008. Along with this move the FIA is also instituting Bridgestone as the sole tire supplier for the series. So far, the FIA has only acknowledged the selection of Bridgestone as it's spec tire with no mention of Microsoft. I can't imagine what Berni Ecclestone is thinking on this one. Did he miss the X-Box 360 fiasco when they were first released? Has he missed the continuing anti-trust issues Microsoft is emboiled in in the European Union?

I've never cared much for Ecclestone and after the last race they did in Phoenix I pretty much swore off F1 racing. However, I just might start watching again in 2008 because I can't wait to hear the announcers.

Announcer: Whoa! Schumacher just crashed going into turn one!
Commentator: It appears he got a blue screen of death!
Announcer: Wait, he's rebooted and it looks like he'll be getting back on course. Yes sir! Schumacher is back in the race, wait, what's happening? Schumacher is only going 3 KPH!
Commentator: Oh no! He had to reboot in safe mode, this race is over for him!

Yes, that might get me watching F1 again.

Let's hope MotoGP doesn't head in that direction. I think that would kill the innovation and ruin what MotoGP is supposed to be all about.

I'm sure I'm not the only one a bit disapointed with all the changes for the future. FIA has contracted Bridgestone to be the sole-tire supplier
