Power Commander Question

Hi All, New to the forum. I have a 04 Kaw.ZX6R. I recently installed a power commander which I purchased about a year and a half ago. Up untill now I've gotten 15,000 trouble free miles on the bike. Now it goes dead intermittantly. I can be going 5 mph or 70, it just dies. I pull over to the side, hit the button and it cranks right up. Sometimes it wont happen at all during a ride, sometimes it happens multiple times. I have the correct map loaded. Have checked all connections.
Has anyone here had a similar experience? Any ideas as to what to do?
Thanks in advance. Marlboroman

Touchy huh?? The question your asking should be whats wrong with my bike not power commander. I dont think the power commander has anything to do with your bike stalling out particularly becaus eyou installed it over a year ago. I think you have some sort of electrical problem, possibly something to do with your fuel injection. I'm sure someone will give you a better answer but I'm bascially responding to your snotty comment. It is a message board and you are a new guy so show some respect.

'Power Commander' is notorious for creating issues.
Do a search on any 'sport bike related board' to confirm
this. (Also for possible fixes.)
Best advice is to dis-connect the Power Commander and
remove. Still have problem? If so, then it is another issue.
Is the battery original? Is it fully charged and producing
the correct voltage? This can also cause the problem you
discribe.

Sorry Guys, Didn't mean to come off as an a-hole, I guess I just needed a nap.
The Battery is about 2 months old... Reinstalled the "micron" map from pc website, checked all connections.... same problem. Disconected the power commander, bike runs fine no more incidents....
Any ideas as to what else i can try?
Thanks, MM

if you only installed a slip-on muffler on your bike it'll run fine even without a PC, never bothered getting one for my bike i'm happy with it's performance as it is.

Actually, when the pc was working properly it made a BIG difference. Throttle response was much improved, high speed roll-ons were much smoother and quicker.....
Has anyone else had the same problem or other issues with their P.C. ?

From what I have gleaned from this as well as other message boards....Power Commanders are pretty well known for turning a running bike into a non-running bike. I do not own one, nor will I ever. What good is improved throttle response if the bike won't run at all? I know this isn't what you want to hear, but you should take the PC off and go ride.
My 2 cents.

I have a 2004 636 with a full Muzzy and PC that has the downloaded map. The PC made a huge improvement in on/off idle throttle response, smoother idle and better roll on. My suggestion is to call Power Commander. They were pretty helpful when I had a question once. It's probably just a defective unit that needs to be replaced. More than likely the warranty has expired, I would leave iout the part about buying it a year and half ago unless they ask. I'd just tell them that you just installed a "new" Power Commander.
