Does anyone know how to improve the front brakes on a 2001 yamaha r1? I have SS lines and better pads. My buddy has a r6 and another friend has a 954 and their brakes are soooo much better. Is it in the rotor, I think the newer bikes have bidder rotors? any advice would be great. Thanks Tim Please email me your thoughts. Thamrey@hotmail.com

I've ridden that bike several times. "Suck" is not a description I'd give them. I'd make sure that the llines have been installed properly and bled again. replace the fluid with something like the Motul 300. make sure you don't have Dot 5 in there too. What pads are on there? Were they bedded in properly? A number of seemingly small issues can cause brakes to go to sh1t. My guess is that you may have some air in the lines from the SS line installation. R1 brakes are some of the best in the business.
